Cultured heart cell reaggregate model for studying cardiac toxicology.
This review represents a summary of the technique of using cultured heart cells as a model system for studying the physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry and toxicology of myocardial cells. The general techniques and types of culture preparations commonly used are given and some of the advantages and disadvantages of working with cultured heart cells are summarized.
متن کاملRole of class II phosphoinositide 3-kinase in cell signalling.
Although it is now well established that PI3K (phosphoinositide 3-kinase) is a key enzyme in several intracellular processes, there are still relatively few reports that precisely identify the specific isoforms of PI3K actually involved in such events. The lack of specific inhibitors has made it particularly difficult to address the physiological roles of some isoforms, such as the members of c...
متن کاملEquinatoxin II-induced lysis Of the cultured endothelial cell line ECV-304.
Equinatoxin II (EqT II) is a pore-forming actinoporin. Its lethality in rat tissue is due to cardio-respiratory effects. The toxin contracts the vascular smooth muscle only in the presence of intact endothelium. In our study, its effects on the endothelial cell culture ECV-304 were tested. The EqT II effects were dose-dependent and were influenced by calcium ions and sucrose. The obtained resul...
متن کاملSpecific Localization of Serine 19 Phosphorylated Myosin II during Cell Locomotion and Mitosis of Cultured Cells
Phosphorylation of the regulatory light chain of myosin II (RMLC) at Serine 19 by a specific enzyme, MLC kinase, is believed to control the contractility of actomyosin in smooth muscle and vertebrate nonmuscle cells. To examine how such phosphorylation is regulated in space and time within cells during coordinated cell movements, including cell locomotion and cell division, we generated a phosp...
